G2 House: A Stylistic and Private Residence

Creating a harmonious blend of privacy and design

The G2 House, designed by Masahiko Sato, is a residential architectural masterpiece that combines privacy and style. Completed in December 2017 in Mii, Fukuoka, Japan, this unique home showcases the innovative use of space, natural lighting, and ventilation.

The G2 House stands out with its minimalistic facade, designed to protect the privacy of its inhabitants while creating a visually stunning exterior. Masahiko Sato explains, "The building was designed to have a minimum opening on the outer side in order to protect the privacy of the house and create a stylistic beautiful facade."

One of the standout features of the G2 House is its composition of three main masses: the garage, entrance hall and Japanese-style room, and the living spaces. This design allows ample sunlight to enter all rooms, providing natural daylighting and ventilation throughout the entire house. The entrance hall and living room are connected by a hallway with large windows on each side, creating a sense of openness and connection to the outdoors.

The inner space of the G2 House is designed to mirror the building's form, with the ceiling having the same inclination as the roof. Utilizing red cedar, the interior spaces exude a gentle, warm, and bright ambiance. The roof directions of the front and back buildings oppose each other, optimizing natural daylighting. By placing the living space at the back of the site, the design ensures maximum privacy for the inhabitants.

The G2 House seamlessly integrates nature into its design through the placement of two inner gardens between the northern and southern parts of the building. This strategic positioning allows sunlight to enter all rooms, providing natural lighting and ventilation throughout the entire house.

The G2 House received the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category. This award recognizes the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The G2 House not only enhances the quality of life for its inhabitants but also contributes to making the world a better place through its innovative design.

The G2 House is a testament to Masahiko Sato's dedication to creating spaces that harmonize function, environment, and style. By prioritizing privacy, natural lighting, and ventilation, the G2 House offers a unique and inviting living experience in the rural area of Mii, Fukuoka, Japan.
